A few months ago I started experiencing acid reflux symptoms. My doctor prescribed me with proton pump inhibitors, which I had no intentions taking, not at least till I tried treating it naturally. It just didn't make sense to me to take a medicine that is used to treat people who have symptoms related to poor lifestyle habits, such as smoking, eating too much processed food, too much coffee, alcohol, sugar, stress... You get the point - non of which I fit into. So I decided to go with my intuition and go back to the basics - food as medicine. I went off coffee, red wine (my beloved Saturday night glass), eliminated sugar completely and avoided eating tomatoes, onions, lemons, eggplants, spicy foods, oily foods (which I wasn't eating anyway) and no dairy products (in my case I had to give up my goat yogurt). I added fermented foods to every meal (to aid digestion) and drank water with 1 tbsp of apple cider vinegar before meals to balance stomach acids. And guess what? within few weeks symptoms were gone, and I slowly got back to my normal healthy diet. I did get into the habit of eating much more fermented food and decided to keep it also after the symptoms were gone.
And - since I couldn't have coffee for few weeks I circulated between my 3 magic potions - Matcha Latte, Golden Latte and My Cacao Magic Potion.
Here is my Cacao Magic Potion Mug Recipe:
1 cup boiled water
1 tbsp raw caco powder
1 tsp maca powder
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp vanilla powder (optional)
1 tsp chia seeds
1 tsp coconut oil
1 tsp honey (optional)
Place all the ingredients in the blender, blend for 20 seconds and
poor into your favourite mug and cozy up with a good book!
