Chocolate Banana Dream Breakfast

December 19, 2017

Who doesn't need a bit of comfort on a cold snowy morning?

'Comfort Food' has gotten a negative connotation these days with all the talk around emotional eating.

I am definitely a big believer in conscious eating and not 'eating your emotions', but what if we look at comfort food as a conscious act of self care? If it comes from a place of eating intuitively, with intention, listening to what your body wants...

Also, just to make things clear - COMFORT FOOD ≠ UNHEALTHY FOOD

Just like this perfect comforting bowl of chocolate - banana porridge!

Chocolate - Banana Oatmeal - Quinoa Porridge Recipe: (makes 2-3 portions)

1. Make the Quinoa Porridge:

4 tbsp cooked quinoa

½- ¾ cup water

Pinch of cinnamon

½ banana (sliced into cubes)

1 tsp almond butter (I love using the type without the shell for this recipe)

1 tsp maple syrup (optional)

Directions:

1.Place all the ingredients (except from the maple & butter) in a pot and bring to boil while stirring

2.Cook for 2 minutes on a low flame

3.Remove from the stove and use a hand blender to blend until smooth

2. Make the Oatmeal Porridge:

Ingredients:

 1 cup of oats

 1 cup of almond milk

 1 cup of water

 2 tbsp cacao

 1 tsp maca powder (optional)

 Pinch of cinnamon

 Pinch of sea salt

Directions:

1.Place all the ingredients in a pot and bring to boil while stirring

Poor the oats into a bowl, add the quinoa, top with almond butter, maple syrup, raw cacao nibs

*Try cooking both porridges at the same time to get the best results ;)

Enjoy!
